국민 1인당 배출량이 약 113.5㎏인 걸 감안하면 군 장병 1인당 배출량(212.9㎏)은 2배가량 더 많은 것입니다. 이에 따라 음식물류 폐기물 처리 비용도 ▲2019년 141억 원 ▲20년 184억 원 ▲21년 189억 원 ▲22년 190억 원 ▲23년 198억 원 등으로 증가했습니다.

저출산등으로 군 장병 수가 지속적으로 감소하는 가운데 음식물류 폐기물 처리량이 늘어나고 있는 건 군 급식 만족도가 떨어지고 급식·급양 시스템에 문제가 있기 때문이란 지적이 제기된고 있습니다.
